Two and a Half Men may be adding a super-famous woman to its cast.
Sources from the set of the top-rated CBS sitcom tell Celebuzz exclusively that Miley Cyrus is being eyed as a potential replacement for Angus T. Jones after the actor openly called the show “filth” on YouTube.
“There are talks to replace Angus and the perfect person would be Miley Cyrus,” the insider revealed. “The episodes that she appeared on brought in the highest ratings of the season. One possibility is that she could easily be written into the show to go to college.”
Cyrus earned rave reviews for her two-episode gig on the show, in which she played Missi, the daughter of a friend of Walden’s (Ashton Kutcher) who has a brief romance with Jake (Jones).
Those who worked with her on set, including Kutcher, were especially impressed by her work ethic, which will only work in Cyrus’ favor, according to the insider.
“When she was on set she, was pleasant and very enjoyable to work with,” they said. “She won everyone over. Now the whispers are growing louder. People involved in the show want Miley to replace Angus.”
On Monday, a video in which Jones urged fans to stop watching Two and a Half Men, went viral on YouTube, saddling the Emmy-winning comedy with yet another behind-the-scenes controversy.
“I’m on Two and a Half Men, and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth,” he said in a religious testimonial for the website Forerunner Chronicles.
“People say it’s just entertainment,” the 19-year-old, who has since apologized for his remarks, continued. “Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you, you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch on the television. It’s bad news.”
The rant was eerily similar to the disparaging comments Charlie Sheen made about the show and its creator, Chuck Lorre, in 2011, which led him to be fired and replaced by Kutcher shortly after.
Now, insiders say that production has been thrown out of whack, leaving Jones’ future with the show in jeopardy.
“Production staff has been scrambling after his recent antics were publicized against the show,” another insider said of Jones, who isn’t scheduled to appear in an episode that tapes this week. “Everyone was nervous and upset not knowing what would happen next.”
